Snapshot Brian provides a broad range of professional business development services to large corporate and small business clients, including project management, properties and business acquisitions,
business expansions, strategic planning, financial analysis, contract negotiations, raw material supply analysis and
resource development, regulatory and entitlement assistance, sales & marketing, and business management consulting
services. Brian assists corporate business development departments with business, commercial & industrial property
acquisitions and sales, including negotiations and contract preparation and execution.
Brian is an avid traveler with a love for adventure, ecology, ancient history, wildlife,
mineralogy, and outdoor sports.
- While growing up, Brian was an active member of both the "Mineralogical Society of Pennsylvania" and
"Friends of Mineralogy."
- He started his first rock and mineral collection at the age of 10 by gluing specimens
he collected from the local farm country roads, fields and streams onto a shoebox top.
- His mother and father were
devoted to helping him develop his interest in the earth sciences and the outdoors. In the beautiful countryside of his native
Pennsylvania, Brian learned hunting & fishing, waterskiing & snow skiing, canoeing, camping, caving and mountain
climbing.
- At the age of 12 Brian collected the extremely rare mineral, Huntite, in a quarry near his home,
at that time only the third locality for this mineral in the world. Brian donated specimens to Lafayette College in Pennsylvania.
- At the age of 13, Brian collected and described a new mineral species for the world. By the the time Brian reached
18 years of age, the Brubaker collection had become one of the finest mineral collections in the State of Pennsylvania.
- With
his family, Brian traveled across North America, visiting active quarries and abandoned mines in search of gems, crystals
and minerals.
- Brian was President of the National Honor Society and Captain of his high school soccer team, and applied
for college in his junior year with a 4.0 GPA.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from Penn State University.
- Brian worked in the coal mines of Pennsylvania to help pay for college.
- Upon graduation from Penn State,
Brian began a career in business management that has spanned over 25 years, from coal miner to corporate
Vice President, to his current work as a Business Development Consultant.
Full Bio Since childhood, Brian had a fascination with gems, crystals and minerals. He began collecting specimens from the fields,
stone roads and quarries in the farmland of his native Pennsylvania. As he grew into adolescence, his parents to him to rock
swaps, rock shops and gem & mineral shows. Birthday and Christmas presents included rock hammers, gold pans and microscopes.
The Brubaker family visited active quarries and abandoned mines while vacationing up and down the Eastern
Seaboard of the United States, and into Ontario and Quebec, Canada. At the same time, Brian enjoyed co-op work with the Geological
Survey of Pennsylvania, studied numerous acclaimed mineral collections, attended technical and educational seminars and taught
in schools and spoke before civic groups. Brian was an active member of the "Mineralogical Society of Pennsylvania" and "Friends
of Mineralogy," and he spent hours every day reading scientific journals and books on mineralogy, and studying specimens
he had collected. He meticulously identified and labeled every specimen in the collecton, which grew from one cabinet to a
large museum-style room full of glass cabinets loaded with fine specimens.
Brian enjoyed school
studies and also extracurricular activities. He was President of the National Honor Society and Captain of his high school soccer
team, and applied to college in his junior year with a 4.0 grade point average. His passion for the sciences took him
to Penn State University where he enrolled in the Engineering program. During summer vacation from college he worked
as a coal miner in the mines of Western Pennsylvania and Ohio, and as a mine technician.
Upon
graduation from Penn State in 1979, Brian joined Bethlehem Steel Corporation in Pennsylvania, and then continued his
career by moving to California join what is now the Lehigh Hanson company. He worked his way up from from production and maintenance supervisory positions to plant, maintenance and operational
management positions, and ultimately to executive management.
Brian began his own business, "BRUBAKER Group," in 1997 and since then has been providing professional business development services to some of the largest construction
and building materials companies in the world. Brian is a former member of the Board of Directors of the California
Mineral Education Foundation, and enjoys speaking before schools and civic organizations. Brian expanded the business to assist corporate business
development departments with business, commercial & industrial property acquisitions and sales, including negotiations
and contract preparation and execution.
In his spare time, Brian enjoys traveling the world in search
of adventure. Exploring ancient Mayan ruins in the jungles of Central Amercia, skin diving to deep coral reefs in the
Carribean, parasailing in the Pacific, horseback riding in the jungles of Mexico, ballooning in North America, snow skiing
and mountain climbing in the Sierra Nevadas, hiking the volcanos of Hawaii, powerboating in the bayous of the Gulf
of Mexico, waterskiing on the Colorado River, caving in the Appalachians, cruising the fiords of Norway, exploring ancient
Mediterranean ruins or the castles of Europe, Brian loves it all.

Brian started Business Development Consulting in 1997, following a career he began as
a laborer in the coal mines of his home state of Pennsylvania to pay for his studies at Penn State University, and which progressed as
he worked his way up to the position of Regional Vice President & General Manager of Lehigh Hanson, one of the largest construction and building materials companies in the world.
